Welcome
The Inland Northwest Freethought Society (INFS) is a coalition of freethinkers, non-theists, atheists, agnostics, rationalists, skeptics, secular humanists, unbelievers and anyone else with a similar mindset, regardless of label. Originally founded in 1992, INFS has grown from a membership of 6 people in 1992 to well over 300 people on our "like-minded" mailing list currently. INFS is a regional chapter/affiliate of the national Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF).
Our Group's Mission
We strive to support and inform each other to become more comfortable, confident, and articulate freethinkers, non-theists, and atheists. We strive to make a difference by educating ourselves, reaching out to other individuals and organizations who think like we do, and taking our message to the public in issues of intellectual and social importance.
Common Questions
What is a freethinker?
free-think-er n. A person who forms opinions about religion on the basis of reason, independently of tradition, authority, or established belief. Freethinkers include atheists, agnostics and rationalists. No one can be a freethinker who demands conformity to a bible, creed, or messiah. To the freethinker, revelation and faith are invalid, and orthodoxy is no guarantee of truth.
Who can join the INFS? YOU can!
Please peruse this site, get a feeling for our ideas and values, and, if you find yourself in agreement, come to our next meeting! We welcome like-minded guests and visitors to join us for any event, activity, or meeting.
Although donations to INFS are tax-deductible, INFS has no membership fees or tithes, and you'll never see us "pass the collection plate" for your "Sunday offerings." Best of all, there are no boring sermons; no "us versus them" tribalism; no dogma/doctrines that require you to hate anyone.
If you'd like to visit a meeting or join us officially, just send us an email at: info@infreethought.org.
We also have a Facebook page; sign into Facebook and search "Inland Northwest FreeThought Society."
